Redefining "Beauty"

There is a long checklist of things

You cannot see the end but only where it begins

The standards of beauty that we’ve forever been following

Conforming to them is ever so hollowing

We keep trying to complete the list

Looking at the mirror but with our eyes covered in clouds and mist

Clouds and mist of the standards we grew up believing

Its no one else but ourselves we are deceiving

I wish I was a little more thin

I wish I had lighter skin

We keep trying to fit into the box

Turning our hearts slowly into rocks

There may be some things you consider as “flaws”

“What will people think?” may be the cause

The perception of beauty forever keeps changing

The people have to stop portraying this painting

Why long for validation

From a place where our feelings hold no consideration

To be “perfect”, there is always gonna be something missing

After fulfilling one “requirement”, there’ll be two more you’re gonna start noticing

The only solution is to accept ourselves exactly as we are

Everything is beautiful, every “imperfection” and every “scar”

Because they are what makes us different and special

A human being and not just an empty vessel
