Perceived Brilliance

We talk and converse

Of sunrise and sunsets, Sublime

Yet we find it disturbing

When it’s brightest the sun is burning

How perturbing it is

The superficial standards of beauty

That prize one form

While all others have to conform

We criticise the sun for shining bright

Avoiding it’s gaze, we shy away

Yet we applaud the moon for the same

When it’s the sun’s light that the moon claims

Even nature itself offers a clue

Outer beauty, a mere facade

Our true worth can never be derived

from others opinions of beauty defined

Realising our self worth

And applauding wins, big and small

Celebrating our individuality with pride

is to what self love is tied

A Poetic Reflection on Beauty's Paradox, Celebrating Individuality.
