Veiled Promises

A promise

Seeming so harmless

Seeming so true

As if nothing about it is blue

A promise

The origin of expectations

Of future disappointment and hurt

So cleverly disguised as a dessert

A promise

So easily torn

So easily broken

Still given as a trustful token

A promise

Just a word thrown around without a care

Buried deep and forgotten

With value as light as a cotton

A promise

With so many hidden meanings

Veiled layers and layers thick

Nothing but just a deceitful trick
